Hosting a Drupal 10 or 11 Site in India: The Checklist Before You Pick a Plan

Drupal rewards a little planning. A site that installs fine on a laptop can still struggle on the wrong hosting account, so check these points before paying for anything.

  1. PHP version. Drupal 10 runs on PHP 8.1 or newer, while Drupal 11 asks for PHP 8.3 or newer. You want to pick the version per site yourself, so upgrading Drupal does not mean waiting on your host.
  2. SSH and Git. Modern Drupal is installed and updated with Composer, and Drush handles cache clears, database updates and config import. Without SSH you end up uploading zip files by hand.
  3. Database and memory. Ask which MySQL or MariaDB version you get, and what PHP memory limit is allowed, because a big module list needs more headroom than a plain blog.
  4. Backups you can restore. Daily backups are only useful if restoring one is a simple job.
  5. Moving an existing site. If your Drupal site lives elsewhere, ask whether the move is done for you and within what limits.
  6. Support when you need it. A failed update at night should not wait until the next working day.
